Dwight B. Jacobs

Dwight Bernard Jacobs was born to the late Mr. John H. Jacobs and Mrs. Mary H. Jacobs on June 26, 1958, in Bainbridge, Georgia. He was one of fifteen siblings; three of whom–Bobby, Elaine, and Martha Ann– preceded him in death.

Dwight attended the Decatur County Public School System. At an early age, he joined Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Mount Zuma Missionary Baptist Church.

Dwight had an entrepreneurial spirit, and he could do anything he set his mind to do. He was a former employee at TG&Y. He further pursued a career in swimming pool services. A lovable, caring and well-known person, Dwight was also a jack of all trades.

In 1988, he met the love of his life, Ms. Gloria Hampton. Together they raised two daughters, along with three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dwight departed his earthly life on Friday, January 9, 2026, at his home in Bainbridge, Georgia, after a valiant fight against his illness.  He will indeed be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his love partner of 38 years, Gloria Hampton; children, Sharon Hampton and Andrea Hampton; grandchildren: Javius Hampton, DeAndre Lewis (India), and DeAndrea Lewis; great grandchild, Ziniah Hampton; mother, Mary H. Jacobs; siblings: John Jacobs, Alesia Brinson, Latika Whitney, Eldrick Jacobs Sr., Allen Jacobs (Giawana), Anthony Jacobs, Lodesta Jacobs, Vera Jacobs, Joyce Jones (Tony), Maurice Jacobs, and Perry Jacobs; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
