Mary Alice Burkes

Mary Alice Burkes, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at home in Orlando, Florida. She was a devoted wife to Marvin Burkes; they shared 61 beautiful years of marriage together!

Born on July 30, 1941, in Colquitt, Georgia, Mary Alice was the daughter of the late Mr. Ulysee Anderson and the late Mrs. Mary Jane Baldwin-Anderson. She attended the Miller County Public School System in Colquitt. She held Nurse Aide positions for many years in various hospitals and nursing homes.

Throughout her life, Mary Alice Burkes was a source of unwavering love, strength and guidance to her family. Together, she and her husband Marvin built a life filled with love and cherished memories. They raised their children who will forever be grateful for her love and support.

Mary Alice was predeceased by her son Marvin Burkes Jr., her two sisters Martha “Mot” Anderson and Louise Anderson-Wilson, and her two brothers Reuben “Baby Ruth” Baldwin and Hartwell “Horse” Baldwin.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Burkes; three daughters: Ethel Burkes, Theresa Burkes, and Mary Helen Burkes; three grandchildren: LaBrina Seay (Troy), Quentin Scurry, and Rodney Hill; six great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Baldwin (Clementine); and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary Alice Burkes will be truly missed and forever in our hearts!
